Budget Dates For (Almost Free) Fun
By Donna Beasley
Can you and your honey still have a great time with budget dates this weekend? Absolutely!
My boyfriend just got laid off from his job even though he’s got ten years of service. Of course, he’s just one of many that have lost their job in the last twelve months. Dinner dates in fancy restaurants or tickets to see our favorite sports team play are no longer in the budget. So that got me to planning what can we do this weekend that doesn’t cost a dime and still can be fun and romantic.
Try one of these seven ideas for almost free budget dates.
Join a Charity Walk
You and your significant other can lace up your sneakers and walk for a worthy cause. Collect donations from friends and family for your favorite charity. As I write this the March of Dimes and the Breast Cancer walk are both coming up soon. Its great way to bond with each other and to rally around a cause that’s important to the two of you.
Hike the Mountain or Through the Woods
I live near Stone Mountain that has a trail to the top. I’ve never walked it but this weekend we’re going to climb to the top. Climb a mountain near you or hike through the woods. Its an excellent opportunity to commune with nature and get in touch with the birds and animals that live there. Plus walking does the body good. Pack some bottled water and granola snacks and hit the trail. A long walk allows the two of you to share some quality time together. Get some good conversation going, do a little bird watching and hold hands when you can.
Bike The Trail or Roller Blade
Forget the car, pull out those other wheels for great budget dates. You’ll save on gas and help build a healthy heart and strong legs. Stop for an ice cream cone or cup of coffee at the half-way point. There are many bike trails you can choose from in local parks, rails to trails, or just in your neighborhood. A good information source is, Rails to Trails. Visit www.traillink.com.
Stroll The Beach
Walks along the beach are always filled with romance. Hold hands, go barefoot and get your feet wet as you watch the waves crash. And, who can resist a soft kiss as the sun slips slowly below the horizon.
Go Fly A Kite
Honestly, when was the last time you flew a kite? Its still a lot of fun. Take up the challenge with you honey and get your kite to dance and sway with the wind.
Share a Romantic Word
Read poetry or an erotic story to each other. This can be done at home or in some romantic location near the water or flower garden. Don’t knock this idea until you’ve tried it. Sipping on a little wine might make the verses flow a little more freely.
Dance Together
I love to dance and it don’t cost a thing to swing. Just put on your favorite dance music and boogie. You can kick up the romance factor by doing it by candlelight. Just get real close on the slow songs, and who knows where all that body contact can take the evening.
So as you can see, budget dates are no problem. It doesn’t really matter what you do, as long as you do it together.
