5 Romantic Georgia Bed and Breakfasts Inns

By Donna Beasley

One of the things I love about living in the Atlanta area is that you can go from the city to the country in 30 minutes; from the city to the mountains in under two hours and from the city to the Georgia coast in under 4 hours. This swing in natural environment provides a wonderful selection of romantic bed and breakfasts locations for your romantic getaway. The following four romantic bed and breakfasts recommendations will inspire your love and put the zing in any relationship.

The Inn at Serenbe

Located just half an hour south of Atlanta Hartsfield Airport is 65,000 acres of rolling woods, farmlands, streams and trails called the Chattahoochee Hill Country. Nestled in the midst of this nature wonderland is the Inn at Serenbe, a rustic getaway that is perfect for romance.

The Serenbe Inn occupies a century old, clapboard farmhouse decorated with rustic chic. Additional guest accommodations include, The Guest House, a restored 1930’s horsebarn that has been converted into a three-bedroom, four bath guest house. Other cottages with unique features and varying amenities are also available for rent.

A stay at the inn includes an afternoon tea, bedtime sweets, a full country breakfast, plus a lake and 900 acres of trails to explore. The Farmhouse restaurant serves recipes made with fresh, organic ingredients locally grown on the Serenbe farms. For reservations call: 770-463-2610 or visit: www.SerenbeInn.com

Heathstone Lodge

Heartstone Lodge is located in the unspoiled, natural wooded setting of the Georgia Mountains, nestled between the Chattahoochee National Forest and Carter Lake. Heathstone has three beautiful guest suites that are spacious, with queen beds and luxurious linens. The Jacuzzi out back is inviting and there is a fireplace on every level. The gourmet breakfast has been called decadent.

The Lodge is nicely secluded and they offer a romantic weekend getaway package for two that includes a two night stay, champagne and a massage. Located at 2755 Highway 282 in Elijah, Ga. 30705; For reservations call: 706-695-0920. Visit: TheHearthstoneLodge.com

Overlook Inn

Overlook Inn takes advantage of its location with a spectacular view of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Its rustic exterior blends right in with its environment but inside each guest room is distinct and loaded with romantic features like King and Queen size beds, Egyptian cotton robes, jacuzzi tub, fireplace, and a screened back porch. Each morning you’ll enjoy a three-course southern gourmet breakfast.

If you’d like to get more rustic, consider a private mountain hideaway. Overlook Inn has twelve cabins and each sits on 5 to 7 acres of land with a panoramic view of the mountains.

You can take advantage of what the Georgia Mountains have to offer, whether you’re staying at the Overlook Inn or Hearthstone Lodge. Outdoor adventure enthusiasts can enjoy kayaks, biking, horseback riding and whitewater rafting. If you’d like to take it a bit easier consider a hike in the Fort Mountain State Park, or a stroll along the banks of Carter Lake, or drive over to sample the wines at one of the local wineries. Of course, you can also do absolutely nothing more strenuous than getting a massage and sitting in the rocking chair enjoying the view.

The Overlook Inn is located at 864 Wilderness View, Chatsworth, Ga, 30705. For reservations contact call: 706-517-8810 or online at: www.TheOverlookInn.com

Beach Bed and Breakfast

Beach Bed and Breakfast is a romantic treasure on St Simons Island on the coast of Georgia. This intimate, luxury beachfront hotel exudes romance. The inn is an oceanfront Spanish-Mediterranean villa that has six guest rooms and offers all the usual amenities including plush robes, elegant bedding, an endless pool, home theater and a panoramic view of the Atlantic ocean.

Breakfast can be enjoyed on the ocean-view veranda or in the sunlit breakfast room. You can rent bikes, stroll along the beach, take a tour or go deep sea fishing. Beach Bed and Breakfast is a pricey option but you’re only a skip away from the sand and surf. Is there anything better than you and your sweetie listening to the waves breaking on the beach, from your private balcony, while watching a spectacular sunset?

A romantic retreat to any of these unique Bed and Breakfasts locations will provide impeccable service, the personal touch of the inn keeper, the beauty of nature and ensure unforgettable memories to last a lifetime. Keep your love ignited with passion by enjoying your romantic getaway in the arms of the one you love.
