Macon-Georgia For a Soulful Romantic Getaway

When looking for something romantic to do, one great weekend getaway is a trip to soulful Macon-Georgia to see its fun and vivacious nightlife. Macon, known for its rich musical history is the perfect place for young couples to escape to, and if you are planning a romantic getaway for two this holiday season, Macon is definitely deserving of being on your short list.

One of the best attractions Macon has to offer is the world famous Georgia Music Hall of Fame, which this holiday season is promoting Otis Redding: “I’ve Got Dreams To Remember”, one of the best tributes ever to one of souls finest performers. Macon has long celebrated Otis Redding’s accomplishments, and this tribute is a fitting way of honoring one of music’s greats. If seeing hand written lyrics by Otis himself and hearing rare samples of his work isn’t what you’re in the mood for, then check out the concert series that keeps Macon jumping.

Take your loved one out for a night of romantic music, country style! Come see and hear live bands perform, or catch a romantic dinner and movie at the historic Cox theatre. On top of all this, there are constantly jazz, rhythm and blues and country acts constantly moving through the many bars, night clubs and gathering spots in Macon’s busy entertainment section. If you’re lucky, maybe you can catch Rolling Stones pianist Chuck Leavell as he jams out at the Hay House.

One of the most romantic and creative date ideas offered by Macon is the historic trolley tour that runs through the heart of the city. Come see the historic Cannonball House, or the birthplace of famous poet and singer, Sidney Lanier. If this doesn’t sound like what you’re after, simply walk the historic quarter for a romantic stroll and see the festive side of Georgia.

Macon-Georgia is home to beautiful countryside and sprawling meadows and forests complete with Civil War fortresses such as Fort Benjamin Hawkins and the Native American Ocmulgee National Monument & Indian Mounds. If you want something a little more indoors related, a romantic evening of music and fun can often be found at the Historic Douglass Theatre and the Macon Music Gallery.
